His point, I presume, is that laypeople naturally don't have the time,
energy, or educational background to become experts in a single
relatively esoteric field, and thus it's handy to have a sense of
which facts and paradigms are most critical to said field, so that the
public's limited ability to absorb data can be utilized to best
effect, educationally speaking.

In other words, people by default are never gonna know every detail
the professionals do, so which of these details are most important to
convey, given that there's a limit on the degree to which people are
interested?

Am I right?
