Other criticism is that successively adding taxa may result in less
parsimonious trees (and thus, more ad hoc hypotheses of
transformation) than taking all the available taxa at once. We use all
taxa available instead of those to appear in the future because of
trying to use all the evidence at hand, and of taxa of the future we
do not have evidence. But, this does not apply to taxa in successive
eras for which we have evidence.
