In birds, the young of many species of non-passerine are considered precocial
even though there may be extensive parental care.  In the Magpie Goose
(Anseranas) the young are precocial even though they are fed by the parents.  As
long as they can get around (and, usually, feed) by themselves they are
precocial rather than altricial.
