Re: New Feduccia Book
"Examining and interpreting recent spectacular fossil discoveries in China, p=
aleontologists have arrived at a prevailing view: there is now incontroverti=
ble evidence that birds represent the last living dinosaur. But is this conc=
lusion beyond dispute? In this book, evolutionary biologist Alan Feduccia pr=
ovides the most comprehensive discussion yet of the avian and associated evi=
dence found in China, then exposes the massive, unfounded speculation that h=
as accompanied these discoveries and been published in the pages of prestigi=
ous scientific journals."
OK, let's put that into perspective:
Feduccia has a habit of ignoring arguments, standing his own arguments
on their collective heads (dromaeosaurids are dinosaurs, bird are not
--> dromaeosaurids are bird, but not dinosaurs). So how do we
translate the blurb?
"massive, unfounded speculation" means "tons of hard, fossil evidence"
'nuff said. It is a disgrace that a respectable publisher gives him
such an opportunity to spread his creationist-style arguments.
