Nile crocs have been known (at least anecdotally) to kill elephants this way. 
The thinking being that the croc breaks the elephant's trunk, removing its 
ability to get food. Without the aid of others it eventually starves to death. 
Whether crocs that do this ever get to take advantage of the eventual death is 
uncertain (and probably unlikely).
