Hennig would be 99 on April 20th, here's a nice article on him.

Interesting description of his life, had no idea he finished his PhD
so young, and THEN joined the army. Of course it was the Wehrmacht
during WWII, so there's probably a reason why that doesn't get
advertised so much. Sharing a birthday with Hitler probably doesn't
help either. Also makes the 'cladist nazi' moniker applied to early
cladists a little more ominous.

I also didn't realize that he started off studying reptile phylogeny,
so maybe in some alternate universe Phylogenetic Systematics gets
started with Dinosaurs, instead of taking decades to reach it (and
there are flying cars and personal jetpacks).
