Re: Bicentenaria argentina, new Argentine theropod displayed

As so often, that is a matter of definition. The beginning of the Argentinean war of independence was the deposement of the Spanish viceroy, Hidalgo de Cisneros, in May of 1810. Which makes it quite a good candidate for the de facto beginning of independence.

The bicentennial of Argentine independence isn't until 2016.

Actually the name honors BOTH the 200-year anniversary of the museum
AND 200 years of independence for Argentina (thus the species name).

I'm still trying to find out where and when the official description
will appear.
