These features aren't in contrast to extant salamandroids, but in contrast to
extant metamorphosed salamanders. During metamorphosis, the palatine (with its
teeth) disappears without a trace just like the coronoid (with its toothrow),
and the monocuspid, nonpedicellate teeth are replaced by bicuspid, pedicellate
ones; when there's no (complete) metamorphosis, the palatine stays, and the
teeth don't change.
