Mr. Jose Maria Herrero passed away last Sunday

I'm saddened to report that Mr. Jose Maria HERRERO MARZO, the famous
local amateur palentologist from Galve (Teruel province, Spain),
passed away May 20, 2012, at the age of 86 years.

The mammal Parendotherium herreroi (1966), the shark Celtipristis
herreroi (1999), and the dinosaur Galvesaurus herreroi (2005) were
both discovered and dedicated to him.

He was also the discoverer of the holotypes of several other genera
and species, like the shark Lonchidion microselachos (1982), the
dinosaurs Aragosaurus ischiaticus (1987) and Delapparentia turolensis
(2011), and the mammals Eobaatar hispanicus (1992), Galveodon
nannothus (1992), Lavocatia alfambrensis (1996), and Pocamus pepelui
(1996), among others.

He will be deeply missed.
