Controversy over French sauropod trackway "protection"

A major Jurassic sauropod tracksite found in Plagne, France in 2009
was covered over temporarily for protection in 2013, pending more
funds and better plans for management and excavation. Paleontologist
Jean-Michel Mazin said the reburial was poorly done. The materials
spread over the tracks are described as "rubble" and may cause damage
to the fossil tracks when the covering is removed. The tracks may be
reexposed next year. (in French)
