Vivaron, new archosaur from New Mexico
Secretly collected natural casts of Triassic archosaur tracks found in a clay pit in Krebeck,
Lower Saxony in Germany were recently revealed thanks to a plaster copy of one obtained by a
retired general practitioner, who was told about the finds by a patient in 2011; the patient (now deceased) had collected the natural track casts that he found in the clay pit and kept them at home as decorations--but he also kept the finds a secret and did not inform scientists or local authorities. The physician was able to make a single plaster copy of the one of the prints, which will now be on display at the Duderstadt Heimatmuseum. The original fossils are apparently missing and so lost to science for now.
